Heater issue.. wont blow hot

Bought a 94 z28 a4. they bypassed the heater core because it was leaking. I get the car home replaced the heater core, hooked everything back up, i still get no heat. Im not sure what to look into now, if anyone could point me in some other direction, just something else to look for thatd be great! thanks!

Did you check the hoses to make sure they were clear?

yessir.. everything flows. heater core is hot.. mighta figured it out. I believe the cold/hot dial is supposed to have some restriction on it right? mine moves a little free, might be stuck closed on cold.. ill have to get behind there and see.. they cable driven? maybe unhooked? hopefully its not broke

Shoebox has a diagram of the heater/AC controls. They are vacuum operated, except for the temperature ****, which is connected to a flapper door by a cable:

Re: Heater issue.. wont blow hot

ok.. so ive got a little further on this. indeed the cable is either broke or not hooked up. so i opened the heat door to hot manually. i still get no heat!

previous owner installed aftermarket temp gauge which would never heat up... so i decided to check thermostat. Was not a thermostat in! i replaced it with the stock 180 and now it heats up to maybe 185-190 on the gauge. still no heat! another problems is my fans staying on! i really wanna figure this out! its not a huge issue but i have no idea why im still not getting heat, and what causes fans to stay running on startup while completely cold

The fans will come on when the SES is on. Get it scanned for trouble codes.
