heater barely getting warm

Starting to get some cold days up north in Ohio and my heater has been blowing barley warm air when set on full heat. No leaks from the heater core and the blower is working fine. Any ideas or previous experience with heater issues? Any help is appreciated. I did a search and didn't find much. Thanks

Unplug your water lines that go to/from the heater core. Hookup a hose to them and flush, then flush in the opposite direction. Alternate a couple of times. Hook it all back up and (hopefully) enjoy heat once again

Re: heater barely getting warm

Flushing the heater core, as suggested above, is usually the fix for this common problem.

Re: heater barely getting warm

I had an old school thermo in mine and it would never get hot. Got a 160 now for the lt1 and have plenty of heat.

Re: heater barely getting warm

I'll try flushing it out as you guys have suggested. Probably just build up. My ride does have 150k on it. I'll keep you posted on the result. Thanks

With a 160 thermo it will never blow heat. Ran into that problem myself.

Flush the system and it should work like new.

Finally some heat

Guys, your all brilliant. Finally found the time to flush out the heater core. Took some serious pulling to get those 11 year old hoses loose! flushed it with my garden hose, both sides, reconnected the hoses and clamps, fired the beast back up. Within a minute I started to feel some warmth. Once the car was at normal operating temp I turned up the blower and I don't think I have felt air that hot since 1996. You guys are the bomb.
