heater
heater
My heater sucks. Sometimes it blows fairly warm air and other times it blows pretty cool air. It runs at normal operating temperature according to the gauge. I've already flushed the cooling system. Anyone had a similar problem?
Re: heater
Shoebox is right on. The same thing happened on my Dad's '96 Impala SS. Just disconnect the two heater lines going into the firewall on the passenger side in the engine compartment. Connect a line to your garden hose in one end and use another hose to let the water drain into a bucket. Do not turn your faucet completely open, about 1/3 to 1/2 is plenty. I would imagine some chunks of **** will come out just like my Dad's car. When the **** stops flowing out, reverse the hoses to backflush any crud that may be stuck in there still. Re-connect your oringinal heater lines and top off your coolant if you lost a decent amount. Heat should be back to normal!

BTW, make sure your heater control inside the car is all the way over to the "red" area when you flush it.

Re: heater
Trust me on this one, you need to flush the heater core independently from your cooling system. My dad had his cooling system "flushed" and his heat worked for 2 days before it went back to the luke warm air. It will take only 20-30 mins. of your time to flush out your heater core and have heat once again.

Re: heater
It is probably easier if you disconnect the heater hoses at the water pump. This will flush the hoses and the core. A normal flush never seems to get the heater core cleaned out because of the flow restrictor that is in one of the heater hoses. As always, keep the water off the optispark.
