Re: Headlight switch

Here is a link to the 1996 factory service manual, free download. Remove/replace headlight/dimmer switch is covered in Volume 1, Part 2, page 8C-25. Not sure if this will help. But there is a diagram showing how the switch is mounted in the instrument panel bezel. There is also a useful caution indicating not to put pressure on the switch **** or dimmer thumbwheel, or it may damage the switch.

Re: Headlight switch

If you have to pull the bezel (surround) off the cluster area, be VERY careful. There are spring clips that push into the main dash structure, and the plastic the clips are mounted to will break right off the bezel. I lost one of mine when the car was still relatively new.... now that they're 20+ years old, they have got to be seriously fragile.

Re: Headlight switch

It appears in the manual that the bezel for a Camaro has screws holding it to the IP carrier instead of clips, like in the Firebird. To remove it all the way, you may need to drop the steering column an inch or two, just two bolts under it.
