Have some questions

In a few months I will be purchasing a car and I pretty much want a trans Am, Camaro...etc(F-Body) Considering the Z28 or Trans Am. Wat is the difference between the LS1 and lt1 engine? Basically I want something fast and "sick sounding"
Im kinda clueless on this subject

Re: Have some questions

Would a 2001 Pontiac trans AM have a LS1 engine?

Who fed you this crock of sh*t?? Between a durability test, my money is on the LS1 lasting longer. I have seen LS1s over 150k. The only time I have ever heard of an LS1 breaking down was do to racing/abuse, or poor modifications. One of GM's parameters when building the LS1 was to build an engine that would address the weaknesses of the SBC and correct them.

LT1 engines make anywhere between 275-305 hp at the crank, depending on the model. Most LT1 cars dyno around 240rwhp bone stock, with the SLP cars dynoing alittle higher. LS1 cars were way underrated in hp by GM. The LS1 in any fbody is virtually identical to the LS1s found in the Vettes; LS1 fbody cars all make roughly 350hp at the motor, regardless of trim. LS1 cars are usually good for around 300rwhp stock, although the 01s and 02s can be good for 305-310rwhp, do the the LS6 intake manifold. All rwhp numbers are estimates for stick cars.

Yes, the LS1 was offered in the 98-02 f-bodies and it debuted in 1997 in the Corvette C5.

Come to the midwest, there are plenty of LS1s over the 100K mark and they are running in the same condition as when they left the dealer lot.

Re: Have some questions

this will be my first car. tell me one thing is a camaro/trans am a good started car or should i be looking at something else. I know the insurance will not be low, escpecially if i go for the v8 models and i know the mileage is prob not to hot but are the f-body cars easy to drive. Im a relatively good driver, right know i drive a navigator and a mountaneer. The one reason i was looking into the f-body cars is because they look awesome and they are relatively cheap for all the power you get.
