They might have fallen out, in which case it would be the hatch smacking against the body. They are kind of flimsy. IF they are screwed in too much it is possible it could be hitting the body too on hard impacts. I'll get a pic.

Just checked. The rubber stops are still in. Seemed like they were in good shape. Still soft. Not cracked or anything. I moved them out about one full turn. Have to take it for a ride in a little bit. It's worth a shot. Thanks.

Could be panhard bolts or bushings loose.Lca's bolts or bushings,loose shocks.Get under car and put a wrench on all bolts and nuts and tighten the hell out em.Alsorock the car up and down and side to side,it helps if someone is under car looking for loose stuff.Good luck.
