Has anyone had trouble with a Locking gas cap?

Just wondering if anyone here has had trouble with a locking gas cap on the Lt1 f body? My frind bought one and just today he stop at the gas station and the gas cap would not come off at all. The key was turned and when trying to taking it off it just keeps on turning and turning. After struggling with it for a day trying to remove it he gave up and he slow and carefullyvcut the gas cap off..Has anyone had this problem before with the locking gas cap?

I found out after i got to the gas station i didn't have the key and stuck in my padlock key and it worked. I had to spend some time with my old one and just pushed on it while i turned the key and held the cap from turning. They are so cheap i would just replace it if it gives you any trouble.

My car had one when I bought it. Piece of crap was a pain in the *** to open. It worked a lot better after I threw that locking POS in the trash and bought a NON-locking cap.

I have always been afraid of someone pouring something in my tank so i would take the hassle to be safe. That is when i got rid of the anyone can open locking cap. Well i was probably the only one who would try it.

actually i was busy that day so my mom took it for me and thats what she told me, i never saw the sheet. it wasn't throwing a code like the SES or anything, it just didn't pass some sort of vacuum test i believe. all the problem was, was the cap wasn't tightening all the way and a new one fixed it.

You have to hold the cap then turn the key?

That's how mine works. And it's worth the extra 10 seconds of hassle each time I fill up, as opposed to getting siphoned.

I bought a Stant locking gas cap about a year ago, haven't had a problem with it yet. I like the peace of mind that comes with it.
