Has anyone ever made lightweight T-tops?

Some time back I remembered Injuneer Fred talking about getting some broken T-tops and putting some sort of lightweight material in place of the glass. I'm curious if anyone has ever done this and was it worth it. I doubt I'll ever do it myself, but I just thought about Fred's idea and wondered if anyone had ever done it.

Someone sent me the composite panel they cut off for their t-top conversion, and I was trying to find broken t-tops to pull the frame and rubber surrounds off of, but never found any. Eventually I just forgot about it. Doesn't matter.... the car just sits in the garage unused, because my ridiculous job hours prevent me from spending any time at all on the Formula.

I thought it was a pretty good idea. I think about it every time I pull my T-tops about how heavy they are. Sorry to hear you lack the time to work on the car due to your job. Did you ever get a set of long tubes for the car?

I know on the corvette there are aftermarket companies that make carbon fiber t-tops...... I haven't found one for the camaros or firebird though

We're singin' the same song. My "official" work day is 7:00am - 6:00pm with no breaks. Saturdays are "optional", but during the paving season (March - November) its every week, usually from 8:00am - 3:00pm on Saturday. Last night after I took my wife out for dinner, we ended up inspecting a nearby job that I have to bid.... at 8:00pm on a Saturday evening. I'm "salary" so no O/T, even though I'm working 60-70 hours a week.

Sucks, but at my age, no one else would hire me. Don't grow old.
