general questions about project car
I am getting closer to my T/A becoming a "project car" in which I would like to do all the big mods... i.e. build a 383, heads, cam, rebuild tranny, 12-bolt rear, roll cage, racing seats, and have the car repainted...... obviously these things make for an expensive project; so my question is would this be worth undertaking on a car that has been in a wreck? about 3 months after I bought my car back in 2000, my car was hit in the passenger side rear fender, essentially right in the wheel, and was immediatley repaired as the car was my daily driver.. Damage included the fender being replaced, rear end was rebuilt, the door cracked in the impact so that too was replaced. if i remember correctly it was about $5000 worth of damage.. since repairs the car has been "fine" essentially as it was my daily driver for the next 5 years, and currently I drive the car on average 2 days a week. my concern is knowing these cars are uni-body I have always had in the back of my mind that the car may be "tweaked" from the impact... but I dont really know. In your opinion would it be wise to do a "build" on this particular car, or would I be better off starting with a chassis that has never been hit?
