Gen 1 engine in a 4th gen

You guys ever see a Gen 1 engine setup in a 4th gen fbody at all? I was kinda thinking of swapping everything from my car to a 4th gen body but I think my biggest issue is the fact that the engine will be half under the cowl and I wont be able to get to my distributor. Im sure there has to be a way I can eliminate the dist there and use something else on the crank or something. I was thinking of doing this since my car just seems worn out. The braking system on it sucks *****. The steering is sloppy. The car is a rattle box. There is only so many wheel choices on the market for it. And there is no friggen cup holder. My engine runs on a stand alone FAST ECU so there will not be any issue with the wiring in the 4th gen. I have over 20K into my car. its well built but the body is just worn out.

Am I crazy for wanting to do this or what? I miss the look of my 97 WS6

But can the dist be pulled out if need be. I cant imagine having to remove my engine just to take my dist out.

Run an aftermarket ECU and you don't need a distributor. Here's a 383ci Gen 1 SBC (Dart Iron Eagle block) sitting under the hood of a 97 SS. Fuel injection and ignition (8 direct-fire LS1-style coils) are controlled by a MoTeC M800 ECU. Engine made 1,350HP with 20+ # of boost.

wow that looks stuffed in there. That engine cant be at the same height as the stock one right? Those fuel rails look really high. if that how high it sits then I cant use my HSR

It fit under a stock SS hood, with some trimming of the baffles and internals under the scoop. The wipers had been removed. The block is a stock deck height, and was mounted with motor plates, not sitting on the K-member. Heads are Brodix. I don't know what the manifold is. The valve covers make it look taller, then add the coils on and it looks big. But the setup also has a huge vacuum pump, huge Vortech blower, air/water intercooler mounted in the front bumper cover, etc.
