Time to change your diet A common source of gas smell is from the charcoal canister and it's related vacuum lines. The canister is located in the wheel well behind the driver's side rear wheel (behind the plastic cover). The fact that you smell it when stopped at a light would allow the fumes to drift toward the front of the car and get sucked into the vent system. Sniff around the driver's side rear tire for gas fumes.

getting any SES codes?

like said above usually the EVAP system canister does overfill after a while.. other thing that happend on mine was a little EVAP purge valve (or switch) under the hood that talks to the PCM... but it was reading a SES code

could be other things.. kind of hard to tell withount any SES codes. probbaly that canister is a good starting point and it's not that hard to pull

I'd doubt it... but anythings possible

when my EVAP purge switch was bad it was kind of like that: one day could smell it then next day couldn't then a few days later could smell it again.. but I was getting an SES code on and off???
