I warmed my car up this morning and when i got in it to leave it had a gas smell coming out of the vent , it went away when i started driving and when i got to work i checked under the hood and didnt see or smell anything . THe car is stock except for a few bolt ons any ideas?

 

could have a full injector leaking. i have two leak on my 95 Z28. i just bought a whole o ring kit. might not be your problem though. just a suggestion.

 

If you can smell fuel through the air vents, check the fuel system under the hood very carefully. Could be the plastic lines, connections to the hard lines, upper o-rings on the injectors, fuel pressure regulator. Pull the vacuum line off the regulator and look for signs of wet fuel.

Also check the purge line from the carbon canister in the drivers rear fender. The purge line is the third plastic line, with the fuel supply and return lines, coming from the drivers inner fender. Drops off at the middle of the intake manifold on the drivers side, wraps around under the throttle body to the purge solenoid on a bracket in the middle of the passenger side of the intake manifold.

 

PS - I ASSumed you had an LT1. If that's not correct, the descripitions of the fuel system may not be correct.

Why not add a "signature" showing basic info about your car - year, model, engine, tranny and any major mods. That way people can help you without having to guess what car/engine you are asking about.

 

had a simmilar problem but was giving codes for EGR & EVAP system.. ended up being the evap purge valve on the line to the cnister was not working but I was getting the check engine light and codes for it; is yours throwing any codes?
