Found company with Tremec TKO's in stock
Just wanted to let my fellow Camaro brothers know that I found a company out of Phoenix, AZ that has GM TKO's in stock. I have a 69 Camaro and wanted to do a conversion but couldn't find a tranny in stock. Well they have them in stock and I got my kit today. I got the tranny, the clutch kit, t/o bearing, fork, shifter and a couple of other parts. Great guys to work with and I highly recommend them. The company name is AMP Performance and ask for Tom.

I am sorry to hear that, I had a total different experience. If you can please email me with what happened. I don't want to rush to judge. Email: chevyguy75_67@hotmail.com
Thanks.

Re: Found company with Tremec TKO's in stock
Hey there
Just an opinion from somebody who swapped in a TKO last year.
Might want to re-evaluate the "stock" 1st gear, and go for an optional higher gear. Mine's in an 81 elcamino with a GMPP 350HO. 245/50-16s, 3.50 gears. Similar power, tire size, weight, etc to a lot of camaros.
It's not quite a granny low, but it's close. From a stop, If I hold it in first and move with traffic for 2 car lengths, it's wailing along at 3000 rpm. (my flowmasters Fing WAIL!) So I'm shifting it before the rear tires even enter an intersection, then bogging second. Hard to be graceful, but sometimes that's fun.
On the strip, I honestly question the improvement with the lower first gear (and I do run that car on the strip). The wide 1-2 gear spread makes it tough to powershift, even with my hurst billet. Kinda like powershifting a dump truck. And it's taken nearly 10K miles to get the shifting to "butter up". And it still isn't very buttery, going to try less spring tension on the shifter. Half throttle clutch dumps set the tires on fire, so I'm pretty sure it's got the ***** to handle a higher first gear. My crate motor is far from radical.
Anyway, my 2 cents worth. You'll love it with either gear.
