ghetto-fabbed something up to keep my battery planted.

its a piece of scrap stainless steel. used the dremel to cut it to length, then used a dremel drilling tool to make a small hole, then used a dremel tungston carbide drill tip to expand the hole to the proper size to fit the stock bolts.

took awhile cuase i had to go to home depot and get myself a tungston carbide cutting thing and some safety goggles (A MUST!) but well worth it.

total cost was about 10 bucks including safety goggles.


end result is that the battery only moves side to side a little bit (torwards and away from radiator) but it doesn't move up/down or front/back AT ALL.

i'm happy with it

 

Hey, looks like you have the same prob that I did with mine. The hidden side of the battery clamp is broken off the top of the coolant overflow tank, right?

I ended up getting a rear mount kit and sealed battery box. Freed up a lot of room up there

Sometimes ghetto is all you got for a fix. A suggestion would be to find some thick rubber or something to go between the clamp and battery. That should stop any side to side movement, too.

Good job. Looks a lot better than a bungee cord clamp, lol.

 

Use #5038763227 for a Dremmel - fabricating battery tie downs.

 

It aint pretty but it'll work. Mine is broken too. I have a replacement coolant overflow tank on my workbench but it seems this is a design flaw so maybe I'll think about a similar fix.

 

ya i have the same problem and the bungee thing works until i get the battery relocation kit
