filter thread... not the normal stuff specific question about mixxing chemicals

i have a holly powershot filter (its blue, very blue) and has the same inner workings (to my knowledge) of a k&n filter... by this i mean cotton gause with a spray on oil.

i need to clean my filter badly (very badly) but i don't have a cleaner kit for this specific brand and i haven't even researched finding one yet, if one exists. but i do have 1.5 full k&n cleaner/oil kits...

i was wondering if there would be any reason to NOT use k&n soap and oil on my blue filter... different size oil molecules for different types of gause or whatever maybe?

i dunno...

would be nice...

any thoughts?

the cleanser is just a soap and the oil is a light weight oil. I use K&N cleaner & oil on the non-K&N cotton gauze cone filter on my wife's grand am.

I'd use it. The K&N filters are "essentially" the same. The kit is just detergent and light oil.
