Fan question
Fan question
I am having issues with my fans. My primary one appears to be toast. If I understand correctly, the primary fan comes on around 220*, and also comes on when the AC is turned on to cool off the compressor (only about 85% sure on this one, input would be appreciated). It also turns on in diagnostic mode.
My problem:
Fans never come on. I jumpered the fans to the battery, and the primary one is not working. The secondary one is working fine. Since the secondary one only comes on when the primary one cannot do its job, can I just swap the 2 motors and use the secondary one as the primary one? The secondary one never comes on either, so I plan on just wiring them to a switch to avoid other problems (SES light is on because of the AIR system not working, and I believe the fans come on with the SES light, thus burning the motors up). Also, any ideas where to get a fan motor?

got a similar problem here too, the SES light comes on when on the freeway in 6th going about 65mph and that right away turns on the fans to full speed and i have to shut the car off and restart the engine to reset the comptuer
Most likely, obaja, the fans are coming on because the SES came on. Something is causing that, and it most likely isn't the fans. You need to get the code(s) pulled so the condition can be fixed.

Ya i figure its egr or an o2 sensor. i cant wait till i fix it. the !AIR!TB BYPASS
The PCM turns the fan on when the A/C is turned on, because of the increased heat load on the system from the condensor. Its located in front of the radiator, and gives up heat, meaning that there is warmer air hitting the front of the radiator = reduced cooling capacity.
Best of luck
Tim

I am going to be running a manual fan switch and just eliminating the whole problem all together.
