Engine Volume Control

Ok, I have decided to get an Electric Cut Out from DMH Performance. I don't want any odd looking switch anywhere visible so I was thinking it would be really cool to be able to hook up my Volume control on the steering wheel to the cut out. Sooo, I hold up on the volume control and that opens the cut out, hold down on the volume and it closes up. Has anyone done this before and if not, could it be done?

I have seen controls mounted inside the ashtray. Just flip the lid shut, and it is out of sight.

Thanks for the pics, that looks like a nice clean install. If I can't get the steering wheel volume control to work, I'll do something like you did.

About the 3 wires. I haven't pulled the steering column apart to look or anything but I did investigate this product that is supposed to hook your steering controls to an aftermarket stereo. Looking at the picture of the device there are a lot more than 3 wires but without installation instructions I have no idea where they go The sad thing is that 3 wires coming out of all of the controls sounds typical of GM

Dave from DMH Performance replied to my eMail query and stated that any switch that is 'DPDT momentary on- off- momentary on style' will work. The big question would be if the volume control in the steering wheel is that type of switch.
