Engine Tune

Possibly a stupid question: I've seen many threads on this site referring to a "tune" after a cam installation or even header installation. Does this refer to some type of timing adjustment or air/fuel ratio adjustment using a laptop? If it is a/f ratio adjustment, can the average person do this tune themselves or do you have to bring it to a shop?

tuning refers to all aspects of the computer's perameters.

a/f, timing, and other things dealing with trans, fans etc...

yes it can be done by the average person...assuming you get the proper software and knowledge

The key answer above was "knowledge". The best solution is a dyno tune by a knowledgable F-Body tuner using a wideband O2 sensor.
