Emissions issue: Will not reset "not ready" flags

I have emissions due up and as the last time, the car is fighting me. I did do some work to it that required me to disconnect the battery a couple weeks ago so I am aware that this will reset the PCM. However, I have done a great deal of driving in it, at least 300 miles worth, which has been a mix of city and alot of expressway driving. I am still getting "not ready" statuses for the front 02 heater circuit, the EGR system, and the rear 02s. Despite the headers, the EGR system is still intact and has not been tuned out and there are 02 sims in place. When I took it in for emissions a couple years ago, I had issues with the same three things, but after a week of driving, the car finally passed. I am starting to worry as it has been over a week now and I have been doing alot more driving as compared to the last time. Do you think if I follow this procedure to the dot that it might do the trick? http://www.obdii.com/drivecycle.html Or is there something else I can maybe try or have overlooked? Also, my PCM has been tuned by Ion, but he did not tune out any sensors. Thanks for any advice offered.

What Temp Is Your Car Runnin At I Have Seen The Same Thing Happen If It Cant Reach "operating"tempor If A Full Cold Soak Hasnt Been Done So Verify Its Comin Up To Temp And If It Is Make Sure You Let It Sit Overnight And Drive It At Least 70 80 Miles At Runnin Temp Anf The Monitors Should Run We Have The Same Thing With Inspections In Our State All Monitors Have To Run And No Lights

That OBDII drivecycle should work to perform all tests, don't think you have to follow it exactly - just as close as you can. Might take a few tries though since the battery was disconnected. Usually the EVAP is the hardest, but not your issue. Some states let you get away with a couple not readies depending on the year as long as the SES isn't on. So glad we don't have testing down here.

IL allows 2 not ready codes, right now I am at 3. The car does sit at idle for most of the time. I'm no expert with the OBDII programming, but I wonder if the car sitting around as much as it does has "catching up" to do in regards to the monitors.

Those O2 sims are the reason for your OS sensor not ready.

You normally won't see a problem as far as the SES light being on. Problem is the OBD II testing stations are getting smarter. Here in De a year ago you could reset the SES light and drive right to the DMV to get tested. That dosen't work now. I also know someone with O2 sims that has not been able to get the car through testing with them installed. Keeps reading system not ready.

O2 sims are crap anyway. Just have the rear O2s tunned out. If you can't because of testing then you have to have cats anyway. If you have cats then you might as well have rear O2 sensors installed. Kind of a crazy circle.

A little more info, a couple years ago, the car did pass with the exact same mods and tuning. It is being stubborn this time around though and still hasn't reset the monitors. I am going to try disconnecting the battery later to reset the PCM and start from scratch and see if that will do the trick. Otherwise, the car does have cats, I may have 02 bungs welded in and just reinstall the rear 02 sensors if it comes to that.

resetting the PCM agina will just lengthen the time the system will require to test properly.
