Emergency! Quick Opti info needed

Guys I apologize but I don't have time to search. How much can I get an entire opti-assembly for? The shop that is working on my car says I need the whole unit not just the cap/rotor equivalent piece. He says $690 from GM for everything. Does anyonek know where I can get the whole assembly for cheaper?

Depends... 93-94 unvented will be about $340. 95-97 vented will be about $240.

Re: Emergency! Quick Opti info needed

Step 1: Call jason cromer or Dal
Step 2: Ask for price on opti.
Step 3: Freak out at how much cheaper it is
Step 4: Order opti and walk away with 500$+ in your pocket.

(Vented cost a bit less than the older non vented. Mine was only $200 something i think)

My tech is telling me there is no way its only $240 for the whole piece (he says its probably just the cap). What do you think?

Looks like you need to take your car to another place or even better just do the work all yourself!!! Sounds like all he wants is some money. By the way coils are cheep.

Re: Emergency! Quick Opti info needed

From my personal experience I would only go with a higher end GM coil or equivilant (I hear the MSD Coils are good?). I put on a brand new cheapie Neihoff one on and it started arching right away, plus I lost power after 4500 RPM. Put a proper GM one on and no problems whatsoever. You can order that through jason too.

I normally do all my own work, but I needed to get to work and I have no time in the next few weeks. I'm definetly getting ripped off. I had him call Jason just to verify the price because he didn't believe I could get it so cheap. He then told me his opti price was ony $24 more, an that the coil rised the price. So thats $264 for the opti and $300 for the coil? bull****....

What's this guy's name.... Mr. Greedwrench, or Ben Dover?

Shoebox has many parts listed on his website, with part #'s, and prices. Always good to check there first. Prices will all need shipping added (avoid gmpartsdirect for outrageous shipping charges), and may not be the absolute latest, up-to-date, but they are a good guideline.

Hey on your site it lists the Optispark for $230 and then below that it lists the cap and rotor for $106, do you have to buy both these pieces when changing your Opti? Or does the Optispark come with the cap and rotor?
