I have a 98 Pontiac T/A LS1, few weeks ago while i was stopped at a stop sign and hit the gas to go and all the lights in the guage cluster flashed and the car acted like it was about to die and all the guage needles started to jump around and then it went back to normal and It worked fine, had this problem for a while. Went back to the store and my battery had a bad cell so I had that replaced. It has a good battery in it now but its still doing it. Whenever I'm stopped idling and I accelerate everything flashes and needles jump and I cant accelerate for a split second, also the clock resets and radio cuts out. I checked ground wires and everything is tight with no corrosion. I'm wondering about the alternator but I just don't know. Also when I go to accelarate moderatly hard out on the freeway to pass someone the same thing happens. It has to do with acceleration I think. Good battery, ground wires are tight, & battery cables are tight.

 

What does your voltage gauge read when your idleling?

 

it reads right above 13

 

New factor involved ---- These symptoms only occur when the A/C is on. ?????????????!!!!!!!!!?????????????HELP PLEASE

 

id guess alternator.

Also check to see if your grounds are good, and there is no corrosion on your battery leads etc.

if none of the above, id test the battery itself.
