Z28 Novice Needs Advice on First Purchase

I am looking at a 1997 Z28 with 130K miles on it and need some expert advice. It looks to be in very good condition for this year and mileage and seemed to drive and handle well in the short test drive I took. I also ran a carfax report and it came up clean with only 2 previous owners. They are asking $8,000 for it and I was planning on offering 7,500. I need to know if this is a good price and if there is any thing else I should look at before making an offer. Thanks

Way too high of a price. For 7,500 you can probably get a decent LS1.

I really appreciate the advice. I am going to offer 5K and if they don't accept that I will keep looking.

They would be stupid to not accept 5G's.

Unless he's not really serious about selling and is just fishing for a fool.

telling us the mileage and the options would help...

but either way...it's a high price...

every area is different...but $5-6K should be fine...if it's in great shape and has low miles

Agreed. I wonder sometimes though if the sellers themselves are fools -- some really do think cars are worth so much for whatever reason -- so don't let them try to talk you up in price. If they do, they are dumb - or as mentioned, fishing.

Also as mentioned, price is high for the mileage - in comparison, I paid *around* the same for my '97 a couple years back when it was stock, 55k. '97 is one of my favorite years - though, simply due to the redesigned interior.
