easiest/cheapest way to jack the car up HIGH
easiest/cheapest way to jack the car up HIGH
high enough to fit the tranny out from underneath.
I've seen guys make wood stands, but how do you get the car up high enough to get it on them!?
I need advice on how to do this cheap and easily. and don't tell me with a lift.
Thanks

I got about a hundred solid 16x4 inch cement blocks at my house. They come in handy to jack up the car. I made a wooden cradle and used a friend's motorcycle jack to lift the transmission in and out; it worked pretty well too.
All you need:
Quality 2.5 or 3 ton jack
4x4 block of wood
6 tons jackstands, 4
Jack up the rear of the vehicle first by the rear differential pumpkin, and put the stands at the lowest setting under axle. I use the sway bar brackets as they fit the stand saddle perfect. Then jack up one side in the front, put a stand under it. Jack up the final corner, and put a stand under it. Now go back to the rear and use the wood block with the jack, and lift the rear even further, adjust both rear stands up. Then repeat on both front stands. Lift the car in stages.
