DTC Codes on a Switch?

I remember reading somewhere about hooking up a switch to your DLC. For my '93 would it be a matter of tapping a wire from Port B (Diagnostic) to the power side of a switch, and grounding the switch? Once it is flipped the DTC's should flash with key to "ON" engine "OFF" right?

I ordered a cubby hole plate from 6LITEREATERDESIGNS and I'm working on a few switches and two gauges to put in. Pics will be up in a couple weeks after I get all the parts in and get them installed

Thanks in advance!

What you would be doing is installing a "switched" short/jumper between ALDL connector pins "A" and "B".

Seems like it would be a lot easier just to use a paperclip when you want to flash the codes.

Yes, it is easy doing the paper clip but I hate trying to fumble with it trying to keep it in the DLC. Sometimes I have to wiggle it around and keep it in the right spot to get the fans to come on and show the SES light.

Plus I'm one of those weirdos that likes switches
