Re: Door handle question!!

I had this happen too, and wish I would have taken a picture.

Take the door panel off (yes, you have to), and look at the handle. There is a little arm extending off it on one side, and there is a rod that goes from the lock to that arm. The bent portion that goes into the hole on the arm is what slid out. You may have to bend it more so it stays in there, otherwise it will fall out if the car is slammed, or parked on a hill.

Well you can't see the arm on the handle in that picture, but that small rod with the threads on it is what you are looking for.

You dont bend the arm. There is a plastic clip on the end that holds it in. Maybe the clip on yours is broken?

Mine never had a clip, and never had a spot to put a clip. It was just bent over so it would sit in the hole. It does not look like someone did it on their own either, looks factory done kind of. Either way, I have it fixed now.

Yeah yours must of broken and fallen out then. It is a plastic ring with a hook protruding from it. The end of the rod goes through it, then you put the rod through the door handle and to secure it you rotate the plastic clip around until the hook snaps over the rod.

Interesting. I will have to investigate it, and see if it fell off or something. I just ended up bending mine a little more so it would sit there without falling.
