disabeling airbags on 94z28

What all is involved in disabeling the airbags and all associated sensors and equipment. Can I just disconnect the sensors in the front and leave the airbags in place for now. This is going to be a track toy.

I would imagine unfusing them would render them inoperable. Then after a little bit (to allow any residual power to leave the system), I would unplug each air bag.

Shoebox is right...remove the "air bag" fuse then unplug the bags. One plug is at the base of the steering wheel and the other behind the glove box. Both are "Connector position assurance" (CPA) and yellow two-way SIR harness connectors. The one behind the glove box is near a yellow 24-way DERM (Diagnostic/Energy Reserve Module) connector on the instrument panel wiring assembly. With the fuse removed and ignition switch in "RUN", air bag indicator lamp on instrument panel cluster assembly will light. This is normal operation and does not indicate an SIR (Suplemental Inflatable Restraint) fault. Quoting the 1994 GM shop manual.
