Difference between 383 and 383 stroker?

Could someone explain the difference between a normal 383 and a 383 stroker. I dont understand the difference between the two.

Thanks.

Re: Difference between 383 and 383 stroker?

I guess the difference would be that a "383" was built by the factory - e.g. Chrysler 383, GM crate 383 (4.000 bore x 3.81 stroke).... and a "383 stroker" was built up from a smaller displacement factory engine... e.g. putting a 3.75" stroke crankshaft in place of the 3.48" crankshaft that came from the factory in your LT1. (Of course the cylinder bore was also increased from 4.000" to 4.030").

Ok, gotcha. I just assumed they were the same. :P I guess they practically are.

Thanks for the clarification.

I suspect most people just say they have a "383", no matter how they got it. I have a "381"
