Defective SLP Skip-Shift Adapter?
Defective SLP Skip-Shift Adapter?
This weekend I added an SLP Skip-Shift adapter to my Dad's bone stock 2002 SS.
Once installed, it became very hard to engage reverse. It was possible to find reverse, but it took a bunch of effort. Once I removed the adapter, reverse was just as easy to access as it had been originally.
I removed and reinstalled the adapter several times, and each time was sure to confirm proper orientation of the plug and proper engagement of the pins. Can something be wrong with the SLP adapter? There's not much to it...
I'll be calling SLP today, but I was wondering if anyone here has experienced this or has any suggestions.
Thanks,
Rick

Re: Defective SLP Skip-Shift Adapter?
The Skip Shift eliminator is just a resistor to fool the PCM into thinking that the connector is plugged in when it is really bypassed. Verify that you're plugging it in to the correct location (although I thought the connectors were different styles to prevent them from being plugged into the wrong spot).
Re: Defective SLP Skip-Shift Adapter?
I pulled the connector off (what I thought was) my skip shift solenoid about 2 weeks after I bought the car new in 1994. I managed to unplug the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) and it took about 30 seconds to realize after I started driving the car and the SES light cam on and the speedo didn't work. We all make mistakes..... that's how we learn.
