I feel kinda stupid for asking this but ever since i have had this car their is this little red light right next to the switch for the lights. It has never came on and I never paid it any attention. I was sitting in my car the other day and it just grabbed my eye so I figured that I would just ask about it. Does it have anything to do with the traction control? The fuse for the tc has been unpluged ever since I got the car. The car is a 1995 z28 m6. It is not really important but if any body knows anything that would be great. Thanks.

 

Were there any mods on your car before you bought it? I have a 95 Z M6 and there is no light there and I thought that only the autos came with TCS. Looks like possibly a warning LED for an electric waterpump or a security light.

yea it was modded. The only other thing that i can think of is this accel ignition system. acc-a9324 How ever I think this was either removed or never installed in the car. The guy kept all the receipts so that is how i know that he bought this. Could this have something to do with that? Does anybody else have this or know what this is? You don't have TCS if you have a 95, that's not a factory isntall. It's probably an alarm light.

 

hey man i got the exact same light in the exact same spot and could never figure it out either, it has wires to it and things but it has never came on or anything lol.

 

Well the mystery is solved I guess. I tracked down the guy I bought the car from and asked him. He said that it was from and alarm system, but it was like that when he bought it. It dosnt have an alarm on it now. Does anybody know it this was a factory option? It kinda seems like an odd place to put the alarm light. If somebody put an alarm system in then i think that it would be very unlikely that they put the light in the same place as racer96 too.

 

That light was relocated to the upper dash area on the 96-97 cars with the factory keyless entry/alarm option.

I think it just depends on the alarm installer, they will put it wherever they want. When I first bought my car, it had a barely working alarm system and it had one of the red leds mounted in a similar spot as yours. Then I had a brand new alarm put in and the joker drilled a completely different hole and put in another led.

 

Back when my car had that ugly friggin 93-96 Camaro dash in it, it had the same exact light. When i had my car apart one time i found the alarm and took it out.
