Dash swap obd1 to obd11???
okay guys i have a 94 camaro v6 obd1... i am putting in a 97 camaro lt1 obd11... i want to put in the dash out of the 97 (have dash already)... okay i have 2 questions first one is will the digital odometer work in my car being that now its mechanical... and i want the car to be able to scan for obd11 but the scan plugs are different can i make this work? plz any info will help noone can seem to answer this...
There are differences in the wiring harnesses, particularly the interfaces to the dash. Shoebox has all the connector pinouts on his website. Studying them will help identify the differences.

To be able to scan with an OBD-II scanner, you need to swap your 12-pin ALDL connector out for the 16-pin OBD-II connector, then make sure you connect the correct wires from the 97 LT1 PCM to the correct pins.

You need the wiring diagram for the 97 ALDL connector. My Chiltons has a 96/97 diagram that show that the PCM has 3 wires that connect to the ALDL connector:
Conn #4/pin 7 (does not indicate purpose) - purple
Conn #4/pin 20 (output/field service enable) - white/black
Conn #4/pin 30 (serial data) - tan
You should check that with another source, because Chilton's isn't always reliable (Shoebox has 96/97 connector pinouts on his website).
As far as which pins in the ALDL connector serve which purposes:
Pin 2 = serial data
Pin 4 = ground
Pin 5 = ground
Pin 6 = output/field service enable
Pin 9 = serial data
Pin 16 = Battery voltage
Connector pins are arranged:
1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8
9-10-11-12-13-14-15-16
If I was doing a swap like this, I'd make sure I had a set of the factory (Helm) manuals for a 1997. The info I am giving you is off references I have, but there is no substitute for the factory info.
