cutout switch wiring..
cutout switch wiring..
I did some searching and I still have some questions...
Ive got my center console out now and I was wondering.. Is it possible to wire the cutout switch to my transmission perform switch? I was thinking of pulling that harness out (i dont use the button anyways) and hooking it up to the power to that button (if its 12v.. i dont know if it is) I guess the question before I get too confusing is if I wanted to hook it up to that button how would I do it?
Second: I read that there is a random pink and black wire under the carpet somewhere that I can use for power. Anyone have a picture of it? or know if its only on certain cars?
I also found some cable when pulling the console. It was glued to the bottom of my console underneath the AC controls and it goes up into the radio somewhere. I dont think its stock.. Ill take a picture and hopefully someone good with electrics willl know what kind of wire it is..
Finally: Here is the switch I have

Theres six prongs.. what hooks up to each prong?
Thank you for answering to my n00bness

im gonna have to send this one on up to the top:
I almost finished modifying my 3.5" QTP to fit on my 3" cutout. After drilling in the holes and alot of chissling it fit nice. Problem was its too thick and the wing nuts barely get on the threads (without the gaskets I have to put on. So Im going grind the bolts off the cutout and just put in some longer ones. In the end this is going to be pretty cool and I hope to feel accomplished.
Any word on my wiring questions?

I guess you could use the brown wire from the performance switch. It is fed by a 15A fuse. The brown wire to the transmission range switch (the switch in your shifter) might be a better choice as it is fed by a 20A fuse.
The "hidden" wires are only on Camaros.

alright so i decided id wire it up to the cig lighter because it was closer to the ashtray and my switch doesnt have any LED or anything on it to drain the battery. I am currently gluing my ash tray back together since it broke when i was drilling it and then ill be able to just throw it in there and its done.
Then I gotta remove my cutout (conveniently not welded in and held on by three bolt flanges) and then grind off the bolts to make way for bigger ones that will be able to hold the QTP on. Hopefully ill be done tonight
