Question Coolant level sensor

I have a 1996 Z28. My low coolant level light stays on all the time. The radiator is full and the reservoir is full. There are no leaks anywhere. Any ideas on what the problem is?

Re: Coolant level sensor

just like your title says, its the coolant sensor. Its below the radiator cap and about $15-20 for a new one.

Question Re: Coolant level sensor

I have the same problem on my 97 Z28.
Where can you get it for 15-20 bucks?
I don't see it on autozones webpage or advanced discount auto parts.
I know the dealer has it for like 45 cost and over 50 list.
Let me know that light is driving me nuts.

Thanks,

Chris.

Re: Coolant level sensor

I've heard these can get clogged and with a good flush they can work again. -Just a thought before buying a new one. I personally just ignore mine.

Re: Coolant level sensor

Yea I heard the same thing.
I sand blasted mine and did not work.
So I have to get a new one.
when I put it back on I guess I did not get that wire back on right.
Three days later it blew off and I over heated the engine.
Thank God I did not blow it up.

Chris.
why would you sand blast an electronic device? unless you mean by accident
You can clean it off, but it will die again soon, for $20 you might as well replace it

Re: Coolant level sensor

This happened on both of my LT1's. I just unplugged the sensor and taped it off to the side and out of the way. The light will stay off. If you check your fluids regularly (like we all should) it's not an issue. Hope this helps.

Well the sensor part of it is what looks like brass.
So I sand blasted it.
You said to "Call up Dal or gm parts direct"
Ok gm parts direct I got but who is Dal?

Thanks,

Chris.
