coolant being pushed up through overflow coolant
okay so my car was off and coolant was being pushed out of the overflow reservoir, i took some coolant out and it then drained back down into the radiator? should i worry about this? i cleaned up the coolant that spilled out; maybe i over filled it? i filled it up like 3 weeks ago which is why im kinda confused as to why it is happening now. Maybe because its getting warmer?

Re: coolant being pushed up through overflow coolant
Is your radiator cap a GM cap or a aftermarket?I had the radiator flushed and the mechanic put a stant cap on and had problems.I bought a GM cap from parts geek(I think)for $15.00 or so and have had no problems.Hope this helps.

Make sure the steam pipe and overflow hoses are not swapped at the radiator (if you have done some recent work). The overflow goes to the very top port on the neck, under the cap.

You can borrow a hand pump at an auto parts store. It can be used to pressure the radiator to test it for leaks, and should include an adapter to test the cap to see if it can hold the rated pressure.

230 ish is not red zone.... stock programming doesn't even turn the 2nd fan (or both on high speed, depending on whether you have,an "early" or "late" model year 94) on until 235°F.
Is is still puking coolant out of the reservoir? If so, next is a check for hydrocarbons in the coolant.... an indicator of a blown head gasket.

Re: coolant being pushed up through overflow coolant
No, still high, but not harmful. Typically you want it no more than the mid-point of the gauge, about 210°F. What temp t'stat did you get?
