Re: clearance issues

Don't think there is much you can do on an old exhaust. You could try loosening all the clamps and jacking up the part that scrapes. But it will probably rebound back to where it was.

Re: clearance issues

Is it the headers that scrape?

Re: clearance issues

If you have a welder, you can try shortening the exhaust manifold connection pipes(of the "Y") buy cutting the ends off and welding new ones on.

Re: clearance issues

i have the opposite problem...

when i press the gas with any amount of force my ypipe vibrates up against the bottom of the car because of extremely little clearance...

without welding or bending anyone know of a solution? ideally i would like to find some material (basically a padding) that can withstand the heat of being wrapped around exhaust tubing

any input appreceiated

I use an asbestos substitute against the pipe with a piece of high temp heater hose on top of that, held together with a band clamp.

i had that issue. when i hit the gas, or shifted hard the y-pipe banged the underside of the car. so i have/had both problems. I fixed the banging, but the car is so low it still scrapes. but here you go, check this out. Go to thunderracing.com and do a search for a LS1 bump stop hanger. actually, just go here:

LS1 Bump Stop Hanger by Thunder Racing

I used the bolts from the Trans-mount cross brace to bolt it to the car, but you can also weld it (welding would be ideal). It works GREAT!

best of luck to ya!
