Question Cat-back interfearence and other questions . .

Alrighty folks got a couple questions before I hit the "proceed with purchase button"

1.)Would UMI 3-point SFCs interfear with a gmmg cat-back at all ?

2.)I'm going to be putting on LT headers and a cat-back and deleteing the cats. So I'm going to get a mail order tune to take care of that. Would it be a good idea to get 1.6 rockers before I do the tune?

3.)What rockers does everyone recommend?

4.)Is it necessary to replace the valve springs when putting on new rockers?

5.)Just for poo's and ha ha's anyone know of after market valve covers for LT1's. Found a couple doing a search but there has to be more . . . .

Thanks for helping a newbie out guys, really appreciate it

You sometimes reduce your chances of getting answers when you post multiple questions in the same post. Why not post #1 in the suspension section, and #2 - #5 in the "LT1 Based Engine Tech" forum? #3 and #4 would logically belong in the same post. I like the Comp Cams Pro-Magnum 1.6X roller rockers. If you are increasing lift by going to a 1.6X rocker, you need to check the springs to make sure they can handle the new gross lift.

A "search" on the LT1 Based Engine Tech forum will turn up examples of aftermarket valve covers for the LT1. There aren't a lot of choices, because of the alternator interference, but the alternator can be ground down, or non-LT1 centerbolt covers can be modified to fit around the alternator. Canton make a sheet metal aluminum cover that has a relief for the alternator.

1. Don't know.

2. Yes.

3. The Comp Cams steel full rollers are a good bet.

4. If you're going to 1.6 rockers and your current valvetrain is stock, yes - you need new springs. To future-proof things, go with non self-aligning rockers, guideplates and hardened pushrods. Upgrade to 7/16 rocker studs when you order all this stuff and make sure the rockers are for a 7/16 stud.

Nobody is really jumping all over answering questions like this because you are new user number 2,396,529 to ask them. The search button is your friend.

*Nuts, Injuneer beat me to it.*

Sorry guys

I honestly thought I would be considered rude if I had a post on every area . . . didn't want everyone to think I was trying to hog the whole board . .

No harm done.... its surprising how you can increase your chances of an answer, with a creative "topic", a detailed signature, and posting in the correct fourm. I personally don't like the "do a search, its all been asked before" approach, because a newer member has no idea what has been asked before.

Generally a friendly bunch of people here, and willing to help.

Sorry if I came across like I was scolding you for not using the search button - that wasn't my intent. Figured I'd answer what I could and point out that a lot of the info you need is already out there. No harm, no foul.
