Re: Car won’t crank

You are indicating the starter will not engage and crank the engine when you turn the key to "START". The starter circuit includes the Theft Deterrent Relay (TDR) which prevents the starter from engaging unless the resistor in the ignition key pellet matches the resistance programmed into the Theft Deterrent Module (TDM). Is the "SECURITY" light on?

Or, are you trying to activate the starter by applying 12 volts to the purple wire that runs to the starter?

Yes the security light is on and no I was trying to fidgure out if I have the starter wired correctly I have the purple going to the small post and the 12 v from the battery going to the big one but there is also a black wire down there that I’m not sure if it goes on the starter or not

Re: Car won’t crank

The harness bundle for the purple wire to the starter also includes the 4-wires/connector for the passenger side O2 sensor, a single dark blue wire/connector for the knock sensor, and a black wire with an eyelet that gets attached to the block and grounds the PCM. Shoebox's excellent labeled photo of a 1995 engine wiring harness:

If the “SECURITY” light is on while trying to start the engine, there's a problem related to the PAS-Key (VATS) system. Another great Shoebox guide:

A problem with VATS can prevent the starter from receiving power.
