Car tries to start by itself after pilot bushing install?
I just got finished reinstalling the transmission after replacing the pilot bushing, and when I went to put the battery back on, the second the negative line hits the battery there is a huge spark and the car attempts to start by itself! There are no keys in the ignition, and it cranks over ( acc. belt spins and everything ) When I parked it, the car ran fine, other then the pilot bushing was out. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

redo your starter. loosen the nuts an rotate the wires away from each other. Most likely the small wire causing the problem since the larger has a tab on it. You have the wires touching down there. I did the same thing once it easy to do.
Re: Car tries to start by itself after pilot bushing install?
Your problem might be that there is no negative wire that goes to the battery-only the purple wire from the switch and the large positive battery cable.

Sorry shoebox, I'm going to blame it on newbie ignorance =) Not everyone can know there car like you do! So don't be mean!
Thanks tho, I thought it was starter related. I will do that tonite and post what happens!

Check the starter first. Loosen the small nut and turn the small wire around away from the large wire. I bet that's it. I'll bet the small wire is contacting the large terminal energizing the starter.
