Car has 94K, plan to Seafoam..

My car has 94K on it, I have put about a thousand miles on it in the couple years I have owned it, but I don't know how well maintained it has been by the previous owner. I plan on Seafoaming the car as it has a couple issues that I feel may benefit from it. Do you think I wil run into any issues with hurting the engine with that amount of mileage. I always hear the old rumor that you shouldn't do a tranny flush on a higher mileage unit because the sludge is what holds it together. Do you think the same will hold true with the motor? I don't want to Seafoam it and then spin a bearing next week. I'm just trying to get it into good running shape before emissions testing in a few months. I plan on doing the 3 step method where I pour Seafoam into the gas tank, the oil spout, and then feed some through the brake booster line. Then I'll use the Seafoam Deep Creep aerosol to spray into the throttle body.

I wouldn't bother....

We used to do the sea foam thing at a shop and a dealer I worked at...along with tranny flushes....I saw it cause more problems than anything else

We also did the full BG service too, same thing....I saw it cause alot of problems.

What do you think it will do for you? just curious....

The car has been sitting in storage for awhile. When I finally took it out, it has a pretty nasty miss at idle and also a ticking noise. I don't have any exhaust leaks, so I am hoping that maybe I have a gummed up lifter and it would be an easy fix. As for the miss at idle, I'm wondering if the gas that has been sitting in the tank for about six months may have gummed the injectors up a bit. I don't have any SES lights and the plug, wires, and 02 sensors are fairly new. No vacuum leaks either. I was hoping this would be an easy first step before I started digging deeper into the problems.

I heard about the Techron cleaner being very good as well. I don't know, I have went through alot of posts and I see mainly good, but then I see some bad posts as well regarding the Seafoam. I haven't found anything with people doing any bottom end damage, but I'm still curious. I remember I did it on my father's car a long time ago and it made a night/day difference so I don't know.

for a sticky lifter, u can also add tranny fluid in with your oil

at work, we use heet or something like that on cars that've been sitting for a while, it gets rid of most the water in the fuel lines if theres any

we also use seafoam quite a bit, and ive NEVER heard or seen any problems from it

I used Seafoam on two different 4.6 DOHC Lincolns, it cleaned the engine fine but took out the o2's on both cars.

Yeah, I'm kind of figuring that. I don't think those ole Bosch 02s will live through it.

They are working fine. Then again, the car doesn't see alot of action either. I have heard alot of complaints about them on here, I guess I am one of the lucky ones.
