My car was born on 8/93 I have speed density, and the plastics are marked with 7/12/93 under the dash panel. Does this mean I have a hybrid 93, and shouldnt I have a MAF cause technically it is a 94 TA.

Dates molded into plastic parts are when the parts were made, not the car. Your assembled date should be on the door sticker. The VIN on the sticker should match the VIN on the dash and the partial VIN on the engine. Do you know the complete history of your car?

So, I guess you are saying that your car is a 1993. It does seem pretty late in the year to be building 1993's, unless 94's had a late introduction. Maybe Fred remembers.

Im pretty sure my 94 was built in 8/94, and it has a very late VIN number.

For the original poster....

What is the 10th digit of the VIN #? P=1993, R=1994.

What are the last 6 digits of the VIN? This is the sequential number.... yours should be very close to the total # of Firebirds produced in 1993. When I get home, I'll check my references for the production in 1993.

Why do you feel it is a "hybrid"? Why do you feel it should be a "1994"?

When I did my head liner I found a sticker that said shift 2, 2-11-93, which matches the door jam which says the car was built in febuary. The first owner got it in may 93 so it adds up. My guess is some were on the assembly line a guy got dumped before valentines. Or maybe they had a power loss but my main theory is the car was a instuctional aide like, here I'll do this bolt and you try that one.

That does sound like it was built kinda late in 93' to still be a 93'. But it's not impossible. My 95' was built around the fall of 94' so I guess I just thought that was the norm.
