Can you clean a MAF Sensor?

If so what do you use? How do you do it? Where do you get the stuff from?

Car starts, then dies...

Car starts, then dies...

right away..
Give it 10-15 minutes and she'll start right up???

Checked Fuel Pressure it's fine...

Changed air filter..
Changed fuel filter...

My uncle said to clean the MAF, and Check the TPS.. How do you check a TPS? What do you use to clean a MAF?

Lots of posts on cleaning the maf. But here it is again....
Take the maf out of the car. Unscrew the 4 bolts holding it together, clean the maf with carb cleaner or electrical cleaner and use cutips.

TPS can easily be checked with a scanner just by watching the throttle position in something like freescan and ensuring it moves smoothly with the pedal.
Without freescan i think youll need to check the resistance of the TPS by probing the wires and moving the butterfly.

If its intermittant like that though i dont think its the maf or Tps.

Re: Can you clean a MAF Sensor?

If you unplug the MAF the system will default to speed density mode.

This is a good way to test for a MAF problem. See if it runs OK without it.
