Camaro SS Torque Arm?

Is the torque arm for a 1996 SS stock or not? If not should I upgrade?

Re: Camaro SS Torque Arm?

not sure i understand...

if you mean "did the 96 SS get a new TA as part of the SS package?"...than NO.

that was not part of the upgrade. a TA will help plant the rear end during launches and cornering. but i don't think it's a mod typically done till alot of other mods are done first.

BUT...
i do recommend replacing the bushing on it with a poly unit. it will stiffen up the stocker quite a bit.

Re: Camaro SS Torque Arm?

The SS cars had the same torque arm. Upgrading the arm is not necessary, but installing a poly bushing is a good idea. Many people beleive the stock suspension is junk. No so, I've got a friend with a procharged 01 SS A4. With a little juice it runs 10s with 1.5ish 60fts with nothing more than boxed stock LCAs and full poly bushings.
