a/c recharge problem

I am trying to do a recharge but the compressor wont turn on. I read that this is caused by low pressure in the system but the sensor can be bypassed. Can someone let me know which sensor it is that I am trying to bypass?

I tried jumping the sensor on the smaller tube (on bottom). It just stalls the engine. so it appears i am doing somthing quite wrong.

You can usually hook up a can of r34, Start the car with the ac on high, and the pressure of the can will get the compressor going. It takes a second.

That should work fine. But something might be wrong with the compressor if the engine stalls when it engages.

You leave the engine running for an hour during all of this? Does it really take that long?
Am i jumping the right sensor does anyone know? There is three that I found. Theres one down on the compressor, one on the small tube and one on the larger tube above it. The one I am jumping is the one on the small tube.

The one on the small tube is the right one. But if the system is working right, you shouldn't have too. Once you hook up the refridgerant and open the valve, pressure will start to build and the switch will close allowing the system to start charging.

Re: a/c recharge problem

Put a fused jumper wire between the hot lead of the plug on the compressor and the positive batery terminal. This will engage the compressor clutch.

I dont know if i recomend doing this though without high and low side pressure gauges.

edit: You shouldnt have to do it this way. something is wrong with your system. I assume you have taken pressure readings??? A/C systems are really finicky and a pain in the ***. You can use the jumper wire method above to test to make sure the clutch on your compressor is operational.

Re: a/c recharge problem

I just had a similar problem and the ecm needed to be reset so that it would accept the r134, if the system is low the ecm will also set a code which will need to be cleared then you can add the r134
