Re: A/C question (attn HBHRacing)

flushing

it;s a long process... the best way...

remove the expantion valve. remove the mainfold hose (lines at the back of the compressor. remove the lines at the condensor. remove the drier.

you will need.. a can or 2 of flush solvent or just use brake cleaner. you will also need a good air compressor and a good rubber tiped blow gun.

start by putting brake cleaner in the line going into the condensor. then use teh air to blow it through the other side. use a rag to catch the crap and cleaner that comes out. do this several times in both directions till it runs clear.. the to the same thing to the evap core. then the same thing for the lines to the compressor and out etc etc.. I would replace the drier if you ahve not already..

I can;t remember from before but when you replaced the comprssor you added oil to it correct? about 8 ounces of PAG 150? assuming you did I would add about another 2 or 3 ounces after your all done just to be safe. then reassemble the hoses and system using new o rings on all connections and use alittle pag oil on them as you install. once you get it all done vacuum it out again and recharge. make sure that you intall the new drier last and don;t open it untill your ready to install

I dont know how I missed your reply, lol. Thanks for the info. Is it ok to spray brake type cleaner into the compressor to clean it out? I didnt think there was a drain for it, and dont know if I can blow it all out when Im done. If not I guess I can just take it back off and clean and drain it.

Im gonna try this. I called around and since they didnt get paid to swap the compressors, they wont flush it Where I work, if you pay the hourly rate, we'll do anything...

honestly your not probably gonna be bale to flush the compressor. I would just drian it by hand. add some more oil and drian it again. dont forget to add the right amount of oil back to the compressor when you done cause there will no longer be any left in the system add a good 8 ounges of pag oil to the low side port of the compressor.

Thats what I thought. I'll just take it off, and do a couple quick oil changes
