A/C Issues

Ok, I know this topic has been posted numerous times, so please bear with me. The A/C has crapped out in my 95 Z AGAIN!! In the 7 years I have owned this thing, the A/C has only worked about a year and a half. Last fall I replaced the compressor with a new(not rebuilt) unit, the expansion valve, the accumulator and flushed the condenser and evaporator. After installing all new parts, I ran it over to a shop where they vacuumed down the system for about an hour then charged it. It pulled 28" of vacuum very quickly and held it. A good sign of no leaks. When it was charged though, it seemed to take longer than normal to fill the system with the required amount of freon. It never got as cool as it should have, but I was glad to have it working again. I just started a new job and drove the car to work the other day and the A/C didn't work. There was some pressure left in the system, so I added a can of freon and it was slightly cool again, but not as it should be.
I don't mind saying I'm getting real tired of this. Does anyone have a fresh opinion on why it might not have gotten as cold as it should and why it keeps leaking when it held vacuum so well?

Sorry for the lengthy post and the slight rant. HELP Please!!

Having the right pressure in the system is key from what i have found. IIRC, you want it 2.5 to 3 times outside temp on the highside and around 30 or 35 on the low side. I hope this helps. I have been dealing with a goofy A/C problem myself where it will stop working and start working whenever it wants. Makes it kinda hard to trace that way, lol. Good luck. Eric L

And, were you sure to add pag oil to the compressor before running it down to the shop? You can burn up a compressor REAL fast without oil in it. I add a couple of ounces whenever I replace a compressor. Eric L
