I'm curious now? Why would you need a motor plate? Do LT1s have different motor mount pads on the block than a standard SBC? Otherwise a BBC will bolt up to SBC mounts. Assuming they sit high enough for pan clearance, which most swaps do. The drop-out K member would make notching and plating for pan clearance a breeze. You'd have to ditch the rear mount distributor though
I gotta wonder if there's a reason why you don't see many. Like clearance. Or lack of it.
I'm into V8 vegas too, so I've worked on both. They fit a big block waaaaaay better. That's really saying something. And I think that something is "cool, but bad idea".
I'd be looking at a 420 inch SBC or LS1 based swap. Probably the same end result power wise, but you could still work on it. Good luck with whatever route you go!

Well because the car should go 8.50 so Im not to sure if the mounts will hold up. We are ordering a special K member with SBC/BBC mounts

At Least one guy who works at Eklers', who run the board in the link has a big block in a 4th gen LT1 body. He uses a motor plate. You might post over there and see what happens. The car is usually on display at events that they do. Check the show schedule there and see if they will be out your way any time soon. There is another one that usually makes the Winter Nats that has carbed 454 under the cowled hood. Link follows.

IT can be done, I saw it at the track(possibly the guy at ecklers listed above)

was a black 4th gen cannot remember if it was 93-97 or 98+ but it had a 502 in it, and a SS hood. No body modifications from what I saw.

The motor plate makes perfect sense now. So does a full tube front stub, parachute, dzus removable front clip, trans tunnel, and dash. Won't you need cage tubes cluttering the engine bay to be strip legal?
I know there's people going faster on less structure, but you gotta work on an 8.50 car alot. (unless you're talking 1/8 ) Are you sure you wanna do that to yourself? It'll be a seriously respectable and unusual car though. Good luck!

well runing the 8.50 would imply that, unless you are going to use your stopwatch

Not to mention the sever chassis twist that an 8 second car produces. Can we say broken windsheild ?

Re: Big Blocks in 4th Gens, No info??????

So it's a streetracer? Better up front info might get you better answers.

That NHRA mandated cage is also structural support. Seen alot of fast street cars die from lack of structure. Sounds like yours is next.

One streetracer to another- a proper street racer looks slow, but goes fast. A BBC in a 4th gen looks fast, and will cost you opportunities to race- because the BBC will scare people off. You can be one of those guys who never opens their hood, but they're jack*sses, nobody wants to race em, and word gets around anyway. You'll get more races with a blown, NOS breathing small block than with a naturally aspirated BBC. Not to mention how hard it is to make BBC torque hook up on the street. And if you put enough tire on it to hook- Well, like Nomad said, it's your windshield to break. Good luck, you're gonna need it.
