Big block 4th Gen
Big block 4th Gen
BMR now makes a k-member that fits the 93-02 cars with mounts for the SBC/BBC engines. All things aside, what else would you have to look at? I know a custom exhaust (headers at least, fab my own x-pipe etc.) Unless there is a set of headers that work? A friend of the family is selling a 396 BBC with original 4-bolt mains and square? port heads recently rebuilt with aftermarket goodies for about 2 grand. It seems like an awesome deal, and would be hard to pass up. What about a transmission and the accesories (alternator water pump?) I know buying a manual rack would definately be the way to go, as would the k-member. What about fitment of the carb and distributor?

I'm in the process of doing the same swap right now. I've just got my motor and I'm working on the other stuff. With the K-memeber available and also the trans braces available from BMR its not that hard of a swap. Yes you'll have to cut the cowl area and you'll need a larger hood, like the one in my sig picture or the one on Dave's page.
As of right now I've got my engine bay cleaned out. I've stripped the motor, trans, computer, wiring harness, radiator and condensor. I'm probably going to run a different radiator than the LT-1 radiator but the LT-1 will work.
You'll need a carb, fuel pump, fuel pump regulator, MSD ignition box and also need to change out the gauges inside the car. If you have a T-56 it will work but it needs a different flywheel than the origional. Me personally I'm going with a Turbo 350. As for Headers, Dave has some for sale if you don't won't to go with his you'll either have to make some or go with block huggers.
All in all it's not as bad as most people make it out to be. I could have spent $6000 on a 383 LT-1 stroker but I'm going to have a 650 HP 454 BBC, 350 trans and 9 bolt rear end for less $$$.
