Best Header gaskets?
Re: Best Header gaskets?
For as many bad things I've heard about the paper gaskets from pace setter, I've heard good. I've heard plenty bad about felpro's metal gaskets too. I haven't had headers on for very long (since december '05), but mine haven't leaked yet and I used the paper gaskets supplied by pace setter .
Re: Best Header gaskets?
The gaskets supplied by Pacesetter look very flimsy right out of the box. I went with a pair of Fel-Pro 1406s and they are working like a charm. Many other people are using the same gasket and are reporting good results as well.
Re: Best Header gaskets?
I have done almost a dozen header installs on LT1 cars and have had zero problems with Fel-Pro 1406 gaskets. I would recommend buying some nice 1" length ARP header bolts though. Just my $.02.
Re: Best Header gaskets?
Percys! i would never use another gasket inmy life.

Re: Best Header gaskets?
I think mine is Mr. Gasket.
I have only minor carbon deposits around my headers (but the header bolts are so damn hard to tighten, some are left kinda 'loose') So the leaking if probably my fault.
I've heard good thins about Fel-Pro as well..
Whatever gasket you go with, just make sure it's thick, and has a lot of 'crush'.

Re: Best Header gaskets?
I used a set of gaskets that are very similar to the Percy's aluminum gaskets mentioned above, except that they're made of a metal frame that holds graphite inserts that conform to the mating surfaces. (Can't remember the brand right now...)
Combine those gaskets with Stage 8 locking header bolts, & all of a sudden, an exhaust leak is something that happens to somebody else...
