Belt question
So my belt seems pretty new however between the alt and the air compressor pully its a bit wiggly and twists a fair amount (moves in just over an inch and moves out less than an inch), now between all the other pullys it only moves maybe half inch, and dont' really twist, the car is a 1995 camero z28 lt1 the reason I ask when in idle I can see belt move some

Re: Belt question
Belt shouldn’t move at all. Ribs should keep it aligned. Should be tight. If it’s moving an inch in each direction, surprised it hasn’t shredded itself or flown off the pulleys.
Check the tensioner between the crank pulley and the A/C compressor. There is an arrow on the tensioner that needs to point inside the marked range of tensioner movement. Check the crank damper/pulley for separation of the hard rubber ring that holds the inner and outer shells of the damper together.

Re: Belt question
Okay thanks for the reply, all the pulles appear to be in working order nothing splittng or nasty looking, and yeah checking the new belt I got, the belt is just old and wore out, I am thankful for your help as the local mechanics are pretty useless as everyone is like nah it sounds like it' fine because I don' hear any squeaking, I know about cars a bit but now it appears I am gonna train myself to be a mechanic lol
