BCM install

I have done a good bit of research on here and come to the conclusion that my BCM is damaged due to a lady hitting me.

My question: Is it a plug and play type of swap or does the unit have to be flashed in some way by the dealer. The threads were not completely clear on that.

Thanks

Should just be plug and play. I know that the VATS system will program itself the first time power is hooked up and when you put the key in the ignition it will read the chip you have in your key and use that value from that point on.

Plug n play. The BCM comes with a corresponding key and the software simply recognizes the resistor value in the key.

So you get a new key with the BCM? That is this first time I have heard that.

Me, too. I don't think so.

I believe it is like TwEaKeDSS said.

i had replaced my BCM some time back and the guy had to find the corresponding key to that particular BCM. I couldn't use my old key with the new BCM.

Was that a used one? That would make sense to me.

Used makes the difference. The BCM will only program itself to the key one time.
