battery? loss of power? help!

battery? loss of power? help!
my stereo reads error...(err) ...everytime i put on a cd, it says error....and its stays there all the time...even when the car is off....and i can hear the cd player "working".......i think it drains my battery....thankfully i was stuck at school...what is this problem?

after i charged up my battery it started over again...and i tried putting in a cd, and it worked for half an hour.....then it spit it out and said error again....is my stereo eattin up my battery?? i have a 2002 z..thanks.....
